Buddha Statue plays a very important role in the propagation of Dhamma.Our preceptor Ven.DhammaRatana Mahathera coming long way from Bengal to Mumbai developed Ajanta Buddha Vihara at Thane.The Vihara established in 1983.Fortunately,we have a hillock mountain behind the monastery.It is our ling time ambition to build a 35 feets tall Big Buddha on top of the hill.Shaping all the requirements,we now reach a position to start the Project.For which we decided to construct staircases from bottom to top of the hill.The constriction started last month accordingly.The estimated cost for the completion of stair is approximately 0.30 milion Indian Rupees.We hope to finish it in next 2 months.We are appealing to all the devotees/Sanghas/Organisatios of the Buddhist Nations to provide us the projected Buddha Statue or help partially.It will be a great historical achievement once the project complete.

The construction of 10 feet height padastel for Grand Buddha is finished this month.This construction is located on 170 feet from the Vihara level.It took 1 month to complete the work.The total cost for this construction was 1 Lakh Indian Rupees.

In the year 1983 Most Venerable Dhammaratna Mahathero established Ajanta Buddha Vihara at Dongri Pada,Thane-W,Mumbai..The Vihara is situated in a lush green surrounding of the Buddha Hill.The Buddha Hill is 170 feet height from the Vihara level.
Buddhism is a religion designed to attain universal peace. The truth of every thing is elucidated by the noble teachings of the Buddha Thought 2555 years ago. Religion can not appeal to people if it can not respond to men’s fundamental needs for attaining wisdom and true peace of mind. Buddhism encompasses all aspects of human lives. Actual practice of Buddhism eventually leads all mankind to attain true peace and tranquility.
Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra is a famous city in India.It has a glorious Buddhist past maintained for the last many centuries. In Mumbai there are numbers of Buddhist historical sites-Nalasopara Stupas (ancient sea-port from where Emperor Ashoka’s son & daughter travelled to Sri Lanka with the excels of Dhamma),Kanheri caves (ancient Buddhist studies centre),Andheri caves,Chaitya Bhoomi (emancipator of modern Indian Buddhism & architect of Indian constitution Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ashes put up in this shrine) etc..

The Ajanta Buddha Vihara is dedicated for the causes of Buddhism and strongly decided to build a unique 33 feet tall ‘Grand Buddha Statue’ on the top of the hillock overlooking the city. The Buddha Statue will express serene quiescence. The harmony of its physical proportions is the expression of great beauty. The physical form represents Ten Qualities or Power of the Buddha. The Buddha will be at Dhyana mudra of utmost concentration. As well as a ‘Vipassana hall’ to be built at the foot of the Buddha hill.

The estimated cost of this project is Rs.1 Crore (USD 0.25 Million).We appeal to all benevolent and charitable institutions as well as generous donors all over the world to help us to complete this noble project.
